I have a big problem.
Aston Martin will gladly give me GTE-AM Vantage GTEs.
Ferrari can let me have last-year-spec versions of this 488 GTE.
Porsche has bajillions of 911 RSRs in its shops, ready to deploy.
And look! Larbre can run last-year-spec C7.Rs
How about Ford?

I think GTe am has to run to last year’s spec which is a problem for a new car. Might be wrong though.

Pro is meant to be OEs battling it out and Am is meant to be teams with gentlemen racers. They don’t want the least experienced drivers in the fastest machines.

GTE Am teams have to run chassis that is at least 1 year old. Hence why you see 458s (I don’t think Any teams are running them though). You won’t see GTE Am versions of the Ford GT until next year assuming ford doesn’t just upgrade all of them to 2017 spec.
I remember one year at le mans krohn racing destroyed their 458 in practice and had to scramble to find the one other year old 458 to run. That’s how they ended up with a black roof that year.

No, that’s what I’ve been saying in the post. I know I have to wait until 2017 for a hand-me-down, I just want to know if Ford can give some.

Hopefully they will like aston has, but they may just go down the route that corvette has where only 3 C7.Rs have ever been built. I have a feeling that if there are going to be Ford GT am cars they would still be run by ganassi though.

No, just a hypothetical. If Ford won’t budge I’d call Oreca to make me some, or get a 488 and reverse the role with pleasure.

ah ok, I was going to be a bit jelly if you did, if you would go as far as asking a team to make you one then why not go bespoke and make a car that currently doesn’t take part such as an awesome F-Type GTE?
